on BIRTHDAY
【BIRTHDAY】This is a special day for many people.

How do you spend on your birthday?
With friends,lovers or family???

As for me, I went to the shrine(Tsurugaoka Hachimangu) that located in Kamakura for *YAKUBARAI. This is one of my favorite shrine.

I don't know it was the best choice of spending the birthday, but that made me fell better and refreshed. At least, Omikuji(sacred lot) indicated average good luck. Not extremely good but not bad. Being normal is enough for me for now.

While driving, I could see Mt.FUJI far away. I suppose Mt.FUJI in winter is especially beautiful.

And also, there are some surfers in the winter sea. They seemed just frozen...

【YAKUDOSHI&YAKUBARAI】

YAKUDOSHI are the years of calamity. This is a Japanese belief that people at the ages of YAKUDOSHI are likely to experience misfortunes or illness. It is generally believed that men's YAKUDOSHI are the ages 25, 42 and 61, and for women 19, 33 and 37, though there are local and historical variations. One's YAKUDOSHI is measured by adding one to the actual age.

The ages of 42 for men and 33 for women are considered to be particularly bad years, HONYAKU (great calamity). This is probably because the numbers 42 and 33 are phonetically unlucky numbers. 42 can be pronounced "shi-ni" which is homophonous with the word "to death," and 33, when pronounced as "sanzan" means "hard", "terrible", or "disastrous". When reaching YAKUDOSHI, many people go to Shinto shrines for exorcism (YAKUBARAI). Although this is just a superstition, it may not be improbable because people seem to go through hard times with their health or jobs around these ages.

Many people are also aware that the years preceding and following a major YAKUDOSHI are YAKUDOSHI years too. The year before YAKUDOSHI is called MAEYAKU, while the year after is called ATOYAKU.

WEDDING BOUQUET

I attended the wedding of my friend.
That was simple but warm and cozy.

In the end of the party, the bride handed a wedding bouquet to me.
According to tradition, it is believed that the single lady who received the bridal bouquet will be the next person to get married.
But I've heard from Korean friend, in KOREA, it is said that person cannot marry for six years afterward if she cannot marry within six months.

Break the Korean jinx or just believe the Japanese one.

This was the second time that I got a wedding bouquet...

Cherry Blossom

The cherry blossoms were in full bloom.

I enjoyed having party under the cherry tree with friends.

They tell us that spring has come and brighten up our heart.

The life of a cherry blossom is very short
and this season only comes once a year.

Therefore, it's a special.
